1990

NBA Inside Stuff makes it broadcast debut on NBC. Hosted by Ahmad Rashad and Julie Moran, the show provided highlights and behind-the-scenes footage of NBA games and players. It aired on NBC for 12 years, followed by four additional years on ABC when the NBA broadcasting rights changed hands.


1957

The Royals begin play in Cincinnati, having re-located in the offseason from Rochester. In their first game at the Cincinnati Gardens, Jack Twyman scores 32 points in a 110-100 victory over the Syracuse Nationals.

Rick Carlisle is born in Ogdenville, New York.

1975

Predrag Drobnjak is born in Bijelo Polje, Montenegro (then Yugoslavia).

1984

Yi Jianlian is born in Heshan, China.

Hakeem Olajuwon makes his NBA debut, finishing with 24 points and nine rebounds in a 121-111 Rockets win over the Mavericks.

1986

Crystal Langhorne is born in Queens, New York.

Lou Williams is born in Memphis, Tennessee.

1987

Andrew Bynum is born in Plainsboro Township, New Jersey.

1988

Evan Turner is born in Chicago, Illinois.

1992

The Rockets and Mavericks face off in the first ever NBA game in Latin America, a pre-season game in Mexico City that’s attended by over 19,000 fans but also plagued by technical issues with the arena.

1997

Lonzo Ball is born in Anaheim, California.

Charles Barkley is arrested in Orlando for aggravated battery after throwing a bar patron through a plate glass window. When asked by the judge during the ensuing criminal trial whether he had any regrets, Barkley responded “I regret we weren’t on a higher floor.”
