1993

The NBA Finals are closed out with a clutch winner not from Michael Jordan but instead from unlikely hero John Paxson, who clinches a thrilling game six with a three-pointer, as the Bulls defeat the Suns 99-98. Jordan finishes with 33 points, eight rebounds, and seven assists, and is named Finals MVP for the third consecutive year. It’s Jordan’s final game in a Bulls uniform before his first retirement.


1971

Rodney Rogers is born in Durham, North Carolina. He was nicknamed “The Durham Bull” while starring for Hillside High School.

1983

Josh Childress is born in Harbor City, California. In addition to basketball, he was also a standout on the volleyball team at Mayfair High School.

1985

Darko Milicic is born in Novi Sad, Serbia (then Yugoslavia). As a teenager he played club basketball on a team with Nemanja Jokic, older brother of Nikola.

1986

Allie Quigley is born in Joliet, Illinois. She was named an All-American while starring for Joliet Catholic Academy.

2006

With their fourth consecutive win after falling behind 2-0 in the series, the Heat close out the NBA Finals over the Mavericks in game six, 95-92. Dwyane Wade finishes with 36 points and 10 rebounds and is named Finals MVP.

2013

Just two days after a devastating game six loss, the shell-shocked Spurs put up a fight but come up short against the Heat, who win game seven of the NBA Finals 95-88 to clinch a second straight title. LeBron James finishes with 37 points and 12 rebounds and is named Finals MVP.

2019

Zion Williamson of Duke is the #1 overall pick of the Pelicans in the NBA Draft, while eventual Rookie of the Year Ja Morant (Murray State) goes second overall to the Grizzlies.

2021

The Hawks close out a stunning Eastern Conference Semifinals upset of the 76ers with a 103-96 victory in game seven. Kevin Huerter leads Atlanta with 27 points. In his final game in a 76ers uniform, Ben Simmons scores just five points, along with 13 assists.
