In a press conference following an embarrassing loss to the Raptors, embattled Celtics coach Rick Pitino delivers his infamous “Larry Bird isn’t walking through that door” quote as part of a bizarre rant about the impatience of Celtics fans. At the time, Pitino was in the middle of his third season as coach and president of the Celtics. Less than a year later, he stepped down with an overall record of 102-146.

Lou Hudson has his jersey #23 retired by the Hawks. He was just the second player to have their jersey retired by the franchise, and the first to be honored as such with an Atlanta jersey as opposed to St. Louis.

John Drew commits 14 turnovers for the Hawks in a 97-95 loss to the Nets, setting the single game NBA record which still stands (it was eventually tied in 2000 by Jason Kidd).
1980
In the championship game of the first ever Big East Tournament, Georgetown defeats Syracuse 87-81 in Providence.
1986
Earl Monroe has his jersey #15 retired by the Knicks in a ceremony at Madison Square Garden. He was the fifth and final member of the starting five of the 1973 champion Knicks to be honored as such, joining Willis Reed, Walt Frazier, Dave DeBusschere, and Bill Bradley.
1996
Lenny Wilkens becomes the first NBA head coach to reach 1,000 wins, when his Hawks defeat the Cavaliers 74-68. Wilkens would eventually finish his career with 1,332 wins, which is still third all-time.
Mark Eaton has his jersey #53 retired by the Jazz. Eaton spent his entire 11-year career with the Jazz, becoming the franchise’s all-time leader in blocked shots.
1997
Brad Daugherty has his jersey #43 retired by the Cavaliers. The #1 overall pick of Cleveland in 1986, Daugherty played just eight seasons due to various injuries but retired as the franchise’s all-time leading scorer and rebounder.
2007
The Lakers levy Vladimir Radmanovic with one of the biggest financial player penalties in NBA history, fining him $500,00 for violating his contract by snowboarding during the All-Star break. While snowboarding, Radmanovic separated his shoulder, causing him to miss nearly two months of games.
2014
Allen Iverson has his jersey #3 retired by the 76ers during a halftime ceremony.
