Adrian Dantley is traded from the Pacers to the Nuggets, along with a first round pick, in exchange for George McGinnis. While Dantley blossomed into a superstar in Denver, McGinnis struggled in his return to Indiana and lasted just two-and-a-half more seasons before retiring.

David Stern becomes the fourth commissioner in NBA history, replacing his longtime mentor, Larry O’Brien, who had served since 1975.

Buck Williams sets the Nets single game franchise record with 27 rebounds in a 150-147 overtime loss to the Warriors.
